So there is this cruise boat floating around the Caribbean full of women, their spouses or team mates who are all decked out in amazing combinations of LuLaRoe pieces… and I’m on it. As I’m typing this it still feels a little surreal that I’m here. I am in the top 2.1% of the company? Did I really earn this trip? Is this really happening? It IS really happening and I’m going to tell you how it went down.
Last January, I was brand new to the company and handling my business that exploded right off the bat. When I signed on with LuLaRoe I honestly could not have imagined the type of demand I encountered. With that in mind I remember thinking, “I wonder if I could cruise qualify.” It would mean hitting a goal that previously seemed completely unrealistic but I told myself I had to at least try. I mean really – it was a cruise and it was going to be all expense paid. I really had to see if I could do it. The month got under way and in my mind I had a carrot in front of me. I was focused. Week by week I made a plan and followed through. Three weeks into the month I found myself close enough that I was not about to let it slip through my fingers. I put my head down and WORKED. To my complete surprise I hit it. At the time I couldn’t believe it, but looking back, it amuses me I was so surprised. You see, this company rewards those who have the energy for it. You devote yourself to it, you WILL see benefit. But back then when I was just 4 weeks into my business I had to prove to myself it was not only possible but I was going hit that sales goal for the next three months to officially qualify.
February, March and April passed just as January did except it got easier. I was learning and laying the foundation for my business. I was building my network of customers and learning the best way to present my inventory. In looking back this side effect of qualifying for the cruise is what I think I am most grateful for. I built my business’s foundation from the ground up in those 4 months.
May 1st came and I will never forget the satisfaction I felt. I made a goal and executed – I did it. I had finished the last four months and qualified for the cruise! I was going.
So that is the story of how I got here and while I still have a few days left on board I will tell you this has been the experience of a lifetime. Not only have we had the opportunity to truly relax in Cozumel, Belize and Grand Cayman, but the casual conversations I’ve had with other retailers onboard over a coffee or dinner have been nothing short of energizing. Everywhere I look I’m inspired, every conversation I have changes my business for the better. I feel incredibly fortunate to be in the company of such professional and empowered women.
